November and December are usually my favorite months of the year. It’s filled with family, food, gracious hearts & giving. Not to mention the pretty lights, festive music, hot chocolate and the movie Elf. However, this year has been a little different… Outside of the normal running around getting ready for Thanksgiving and making to do lists already for Christmas, our family has had quite the month. First, we found out my father needed a liver transplant, then two weeks later was diagnosed with dementia. We cancelled my daughter’s first birthday party as people were driving to our home, because the flu bug hit our home.. BAD. Everyone but the baby had it all in one night. This past month has been very stressful. I feel like its been this way since I started rebranding the blog from Frugal Southern Living to Mommy Love Media.. the devil is trying his hardest to make this not work for me. That’s when I know its the right thing to do, because I’m not sure what it is yet, but I have something to say that the devil doesn’t want me to share with you.
I’m not going to lie.. dealing with all the stress hasn’t been easy for me. But once I get past myself and into His word, I find my true comfort. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” I feel this is going to be my core verse for 2018. Something else I find very calming is art – doodling and coloring.. that’s why I’m very excited to share with you the ESV Illuminated Bible – it combines both!
The ESV Illuminated Bible places the full ESV text alongside over 500 elegantly hand-lettered gold ink illustrations by renowned artist Dana Tanamachi. Printed on thick cream-colored paper, the Bible’s single-column text setting and wide margins provide generous space for additional notes, prayers and designs – inviting readers to creatively engage with and reflect on the beauty of God’s word.
Check out this video that features artist Dana Tanamachi and the work that went into this beautiful Bible:
I have been searching for the perfect Bible to use for family devotions and Bible time. One that we can all read from as a family and then pass down to our children one day. Once I became pregnant I purchased the NIV Mom’s Devotional Bible, because alongside His word it features a full year of devotionals geared towards Moms. This is something I treasure and will still use personally, but it doesn’t work for everyone because its not tailored for them. However, the Illuminated Bible is perfect for what I am looking for. It’s beautiful and elegant and I love that there is room for our family to make notes together. I would love to see this become a family heirloom as Dana mentions in her video!
